Step 1. Cook the sausages.

Fry the sausages for 5 to 10 minutes for each side until they are browned. Remove the sausages from the pan after cooking but try to keep as much fat drippings in the pan as possible.

Pro Tip
Sausages, especially the one in links, are a bit tricky to cook and fry. If you wish to make sure that the sausages have been cooked thoroughly, it is recommended that you first cook the sausages in water. You can do this by placing a saute pan over medium-high heat. After that, place only a small amount of water in the pan (enough to just cover the bottom part). Once the water starts to simmer, add the sausages and wait for the water to be cooked off. There is no need to add oil as the fats will melt and turn into oil.

Step 2.  Melt the butter.

Place the softened butter in the heated pan and allow it to melt.

Step 3. Add in the heavy cream.

Once the butter has completely melted (there are no more solid pieces), it is time for you to add the heavy cream to the pan. Stir it right away and wait for bubbles to form. Continue stirring for a while.

Pro Tip
Cooking the butter and heavy cream in fat drippings can make the gravy much more flavorful. Believe me; I have tried eating and making lots of gravy. Using the fat drippings in cooking the sauce is what made the difference. Give it a try. I assure you-it would be remarkable!

Step 4. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Add salt and pepper until the taste of the mixture is suitable for your preference.

Pro Tip
  • If the sausage is already salty enough, skip the salt and add only a small amount of pepper.
  • If you think you added too much salt, you can simply remedy it by adding more cream and allow it to simmer again.

Step 5. Add the guar gum

Now, here comes the thickening agent. Add the guar gum while the heavy cream is still bubbling. Stir vigorously right away to prevent the gum from clumping. Continue cooking the gravy until it is thick enough.

Pro Tip
How would you know if the gravy is already thick enough? Well, simply run the spatula through the mixture while it is still over the heat. When the mixture closes right away after the spatula has gone through it, you need to cook it for a few more minutes. When the gap takes a while to close, it means that the gravy is already thick enough.

Step 6. Add the sausages back into the pan.

Once the thickness of the gravy already suits your liking, you can bring back the sausage bits into the pan. Stir it together then remove from the pan and serve.
